Royal Copenhagen Palmette

Made since 2005

Inspiration from the Asian kitchen

Royal Copenhagen's latest hand painted service, Blue Palmette, has been created by the product development team at the factory in Glostrup, who have taken their starting point from Asian culinary traditions.

The service is decorated with fragments from the Blue Fluted service, combined in a new and exciting way. The name Palmette refers to the 230 year old blue fluted decoration, palmette being a technical term for the stylized palm leaf which is hand painted on all pieces.

Blue Palmette first consisted of just 11 pieces. The inspiration for the shapes comes from the Asian kitchen, where they do not dish up individual portions but place bowls and dishes in the middle of the table. The pieces have carefully been selected so they fulfill all the needs of a simple and functional service, which has endless possibilities.

The latest (2007) additions to the series are in keeping with the service’s Asian roots, with the launching of a rest for a porcelain spoon and chopsticks, a new small cup with handle and a teapot. Blue Palmette is also getting a new bowl with a capacity of 150 ml. It has been developed on the basis of the Korean dimensions for a typical rice bowl.
